DELICACY IS AN ART
In 2019, the watchmaker enthralled us with two creations that stood out with their carmine and azure scenographies: This time round, the firm proposes a limited edition boasting novel emerald hues.
Up to 200 wing strokes a second… The tiniest bird in the world unfurls its incredible energy to move forward, backwards and even to hover on the spot. Jaquet Droz freezes its motion with an exclusive, numbered series of just eight pieces, the Petite Heure Minute Smalta Clara Hummingbird. The inclusion of the ancestral plique-à-jour enameling technique breathes life into a vibrantly-colored naturalist work of art. On a white gold dial, partitions of different shapes and sizes are filled with enamel featuring a host of iridescent green nuances after having been fired in the kiln several times over. The absolute transparency obtained invites the light to fashion this scenography with subtle tones. And, as time data is displayed off-centered in a white mother-of-pearl disc set at 2 o’clock, the decor of this precious creation takes pride of place. To gift the piece with even more brightness, the bezel and lugs are strewn with 100 diamonds totaling 0.89 carats.
The 6150 caliber, beating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations an hour, nestles inside the 35 mm-diameter red gold case. This selfwinding movement, equipped with a silicon balance spring and a platinum oscillating weight visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback, delivers a power reserve of around 38 hours.
The Petite Heure Minute Smalta Clara Hummingbird watch is worn on a perfectly-matching green satin strap clasped by a red gold ardillon buckle. This ensemble, a treat for the finest of wrists, is a pure harmony of refinement and grace.
