THE CALL OF THE SEA
The Caribbean Sea hosted the regattas of one of the world’s most enjoyable yachting events. The stunning performance on the waves was just as amazing on the docks as this impressive sports watch took centerstage.
Following a pandemic-related break, the winds blew once again through the participants’ sails during the 11th Voiles de Saint-Barth Richard Mille. The watch brand, which has been actively involved in the event since its creation in 2010, showcased a 120-piece limited edition for the occasion. The RM 032 Automatic Winding Flyback Chronograph Les Voiles de Saint Barth, a real diving instrument boasting a 50 mm-diameter titanium case waterproof to depths of 300 m, flaunts the colors of the Antilles sky and sea thanks to azure and white Quartz TPT® on its two-toned unidirectional rotating bezel.
And, although it meets the ISO 6425 standard, this Richard Mille-created timepiece is much more than just a diver. Its skeletonized dial flaunts several hands including the hour and minute ones as well as the flyback chronograph ones. The red hand indicates the seconds and the yellow the minutes whenever timekeeping is triggered. A counter at 6 o’clock totalizes the hours. A rotating power-reserve indicator, 2 revolutions a minute, lets the wearer know that the mechanism is working correctly. This data is completed by a large-sized date at 12 o’clock and month aperture at 4:30, both featuring semi-instantaneous display. All the data is driven with great accuracy by the RMAC2 caliber. This selfwinding movement stands out with its variable-geometry rotor and twin barrels, amongst other elements. Its architecture is designed to deliver a coherent power reserve of around 50 hours.
