VIRTUOSO CONCERTO
The L.U.C. collection celebrates its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the manufacturer is unveiling a 20-piece limited edition, representing a new evolution of its timepiece ringing the hour on demand.
In 2017, the L.U.C. Full Strike was awarded the Golden Hand at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. To be worthy of this supreme award, its case incorporates a caliber with a remarkable minute repeater mechanism. For the very first time, the dial and sapphire crystal become one and the same. This year, Chopard introduces an upgrade based on a 42.5mm-diameter case in ethical pink gold. The patented complication is coupled with the regulating organ designed by Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823). The L.U.C. Full Strike Tourbillon, stamped with the Poinçon de Genève, thus highlights the watchmaking expertise of the manufacturer.
On its dial, clad in grey ruthenium guilloche, the delicate hour and minute hands rise above a refined composition. In addition to the hour-circle embellished with Roman numerals, the 60-second tourbillon and its sapphire bridge are visible at 6 o’clock, the two hammers at 10 o’clock, and a double power-reserve indicator at 2 o’clock, one for the watch and the other for the musical complication. This harmonious assembly is coordinated by the L.U.C. 08.02-L. assembled with 568 components, including the tourbillon regulator fitted with a monobloc anchor. This caliber is a true ode to precision. Certified chronometer by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), it also features a stop second system for congruent adjustment. Complexity is thus in the service of simplicity. A press on the push-button perfectly integrated into the crown enables activating the gentle melody of the notes flowing one after the other. Fine watchmaking and high fidelity in perfect unison!
