How do you define Rock? Is it a music, an attitude? It’s much more than that! Simply check out the new RM 66 Tourbillon Volant watch by Richard Mille and you’ll agree. At the heart of its openworked dial, a hand chiseled in 5N red gold commands the attention of this exceptional piece. This genuine miniature sculpture, created in Olivier Vaucher’s Geneva workshops, recaptures the superstitious sign that has become the rallying symbol of an energized community. Other aesthetic details tie this limited series of 50 pieces into the Rock mindset. On the TPT® carbon case middle, there are rows of the “clous de Paris” pattern crafted in the same precious metal. This motif evokes the look of punk belts. The dynamometric crown also contributes to the timepiece’s offbeat personality. As for the markers in the shape of guitar picks, their Super-Luminova® coating ensures perfect harmony when there is not enough light.
The manual winding movement with 72 hours of power reserve is part of the scenic design. The clockmaking expertise of Richard Mille is reflected in the use of high-tech material. The mechanism is crafted around a plate and bridges in grade 5 titanium. The cylinder shaft in Chronifer®, the balance spring in Nivarox®, and the balance wheel in Glucydur® all guarantee optimal precision thanks to their stainless, antimagnetic properties. The variable inertia flying tourbillon contributes to its performance. Be it electric or mechanical, Rock is alive and well!
