LET’S PROTECT BIODIVERSITY!
The watchmaker from Nyon renews its commitment to rhino conservation with a fund-raising drive initiated through the sales of a new limited edition.
For the second time, Hublot shows its support for the association Save Our Rhino Africa India, born out of an initiative led by the former talented cricket player Kevin Pietersen, for protecting South African rhinoceros. In just 10 years, their population has dwindled by two thirds. So, in order to tackle the harmful actions of poachers, the manufacture commits to the same principle as for the model revealed back in 2019, to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the 100 Big Bang Unico Sorai 2021 pieces to Care for Wild, the world’s largest rhino sanctuary. This watch casts off the sandy hues of the previous version and dresses up in camouflage gear. The 45 mm-diameter case and the bezel are now crafted in polished green ceramic. The openworked dial center stages the collection’s classical layout. The 60-minute totalizer set at 3 o’clock and the central direct-drive invite the wearer to read elapsed time. The small seconds at 9 o’clock is embellished with a green-lacquered applique which features the outline of the mammal to protect.
This open scenography invites the wearer to admire the workings of the MHUB1242 caliber. This selfwinding movement, equipped with a flyback function, delivers a power reserve of 72 hours to the timepiece.
The Big Bang Unico Sorai is accompanied by two straps. One is made of textile in a dial-matching color. The other in black rubber boasts camouflage patterns and is attached by a titanium and ceramic folding clasp.
