Until today, Speake Marin‘s collection flaunted the metallic hues of steel. With its Ripples Gold model, the independent brand enhances its offering through its signature La City case, now crafted in 4N rose gold. In this 40.30 mm-diameter, 9.20 mm-high holder, the precious material comprising 75% gold, 9% silver, and 16% copper comes from a firm which has been ethically-certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
The warm hues center stage a dial which takes on the legendary horizontal wave pattern, dressed this time round with a golden-brown, 7531 C Pantone Zapon coating. The minute hand and heart-shaped hour hand hover over slender markers as they tick by on top. A small seconds also stands out at 1:30. All these solar-tinted elements brighten up the composition. And, just like in previous iterations, time data displays are driven by the SMA03-T caliber, assembled using some 144 components, including a tungsten micro-rotor. This selfwinding movement delivers a power reserve of 52 hours. The existence of a sapphire-crystal caseback invites to admire its architecture and hand finishes, such as the circular-grained baseplate and Côtes de Genève-patterned rhodium-plated bridges. Unlike the steel references worn on metal bracelets, the Ripples Gold is complemented by a mocha-colored calfskin wraparound set off with an embossed denim motif that boosts its exclusiveness.
