RED ALERT
The first collaboration transformed a trial run into a stroke of genius. Riding on the wave of this success, Hiroshi Fujiwara remains at the helm of this new limited-edition series with its understated vintage design.
A talented jack-of-all-trades, Hiroshi Fujiwara proved his creative talent in the watchmaking world in his initial partnership with TAG Heuer in 2018. This year, the Swiss brand has decided to entrust the contemporary fashion influencer with a new limited edition of 500 pieces. While the first piece took the form of a Carrera chronograph with counters arranged in a tri-compax position, this second edition is the reinterpretation of a 44mm diameter steel case with a satin finish from 1960s and 1970s. The black opaline dial now features counters in bi-compax position. The Japanese designer’s signature style is expressed through touches of red on the index, hour and minute hands, and second hand. The polished ceramic bezel plays a key role in the timepiece’s bold design, with a tachymeter scale engraved in a vintage font. The clean design and choice of colors provide excellent readability.
The Heuer 02 movement powers the time and chronometer movement. The automatic movement gives the watch an 80-hour power reserve. It is showcased via the surprising red sapphire crystal window on the back of the case.
The TAG Heuer x Fragment Design features a 5-row bracelet made from fine-polished steel with a brushed finish, and closes with a butterfly folding clasp.
