Gorgeous during the day, impressive at night. The Excalibur Twofold, stamped with the Hallmark of Geneva (Poinçon de Genève), definitely catches the eye! Through its creations, Roger Dubuis has become a master in imagining watches which combine technical feats and daring stylistics. And, this newcomer is no exception to the rule. For this model, the brand even ushered in technologies which had never been used before in fine watchmaking. As such, its 45 mm-diameter case and its bezel are crafted in mineral composite fiber, an ultra-white material comprising 99.95% silica. They are made using a compression molding process. This case protects the skeletonized double flying tourbillon caliber fashioned by Roger Dubuis. This timepiece, immaculate in full light, center stages a totally different aspect in the dark. High-tech coating illuminates its starry design, angles and flange. The novel technology used enables the watch to glow 60% longer in the dark than with a traditional luminescent material.
The RD01SQ, a hand-wound movement, assembled with some 301 components, delivers a power reserve of around 50 hours. The sapphire-crystal caseback invites to admire this state-of-the-art mechanism.
Last but not least, this 8-piece Excalibur Twofold limited edition is complemented by a surprising strap made of FKM rubber, a synthetic fluorescent material, which is also luminescent as it embraces LumiSuperBiwiNova technology. For secure, comfortable wearing, the strap is attached by a titanium double folding clasp.
