GMT SPORT Greubel Forsey

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

The La Chaux-de-Fonds watchmaker has revisited its travel watch. It is more muscular, with an original case, while maintaining its technical advantages.

Since its founding, the brand has offered timepieces that combine unique finishings in the grand watchmaking tradition with original aesthetics, easily identifiable through the omnipresence of mechanical components on the dial. They all have one point in common – a quest for performance and precision, like the GMT presented in 2012. For this year-end period, the watchmaker has sought to overturn preconceived ideas with a new development for this model, the GMT Sport! All the features of the original model are there, but the 45-mm titanium case, watertight to a depth of 100 meters, is where the innovation lies. It has been redesigned with ergonomics in mind. The result? It appears round from above, but its lines take on an ovoid shape from other angles. The purpose is to ensure maximum wrist comfort.

The manual-winding tourbillon movement, which orchestrates a GMT function and the universal time display using a rotating globe, along with the hours, minutes, a small second dial and a power reserve indicator, has undergone changes to fit into its housing. The presentation of time data on the dials of the 11 pieces in this limited edition has also been updated. The layout has a layered relief to provide excellent legibility.
