ALWAYS IN POLE POSITION
The passions of Richard Mille, automotive and aeronautical technology, take on a new form with this timepiece dedicated to the gifted Formula 1 racing driver from Finland.
In 2017, the RM 50-03 McLaren propelled us at full throttle into an extreme watchmaking universe. A caliber with a weight of no more than 7 grams made of titanium and Carbon TPT® powered a case made of high-tech materials combining Quartz TPT® and Carbone TPT® (44.50×49.65×16.10 mm). This year, Richard Mille is using the same technical qualities of this tourbillon split-seconds chronograph in the RM 50-04 Kimi Raïkkönen. As this season’s Alfa Romeo Racing Team’s driver, the colors of his car grace the timepiece. On the openwork dial, the time information stands out clearly making it very easy to read. In addition to the hour and minute hands and the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock, two prized second hands measure short and intermediate time intervals, a torque indicator, a function indicator W (Winding) – N (Neutral) – H (Hands), a third indicator displaying the power reserve (70 hours) completes and maximizes the use of the watch. The sculptural crown makes it easy to set the time; the three pushers located at 4, 8 and 10 o’clock perfectly incorporated into the case band provide precise timekeeping.
The RM 50-03 caliber regulates this piece masterfully. Its structure and use of materials provide it with superior resistance. It is also shock-resistant up to 5,000 G.
The RM 50-04 Kimi Raïkkönen is limited to 30 pieces and comes with a red strap just like the champion’s car.
