LIGHT AS AIR
With its shell made of innovative ultra-lightweight materials and its unique crown, this new sports watch developed by the Biel/Bienne-based watchmaker focuses on comfort and ergonomic design.
Wearing a watch during sporting activities often poses a handicap rather than a pleasure. The weight hinders movement and the crown affects joints and ligaments in the wrist. Now, thanks to innovations developed by Omega with the help and advice of its ambassador, Northern Irish golf champion Rory McIlroy, sport and watchmaking have become one with the creation of a new model: the Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light.
The materials which form the shell have been chosen for their lightweight quality. The 41 mm case, retractable crown which can be stowed away in the case band so as not to cause a hindrance to the wrist, and the back finished with a transparent window are made of gamma titanium, a very light and solid alloy used in the aeronautical industry. The gray ceramic bezel also contributes to this sense of freedom on the wrist, as well as the dial which is made of sandblasted grade 5 titanium and features the famous horizontal stripes in negative relief which decorate other watches in the Seamaster Aqua Terra collection.
This new Omega is regulated by the 8928 Ti caliber, a manual-winding mechanical movement which has the Master Chronometer certification and offers a power reserve of 72 hours. This motor made up of a plate and bridges made of ceramized titanium operates the dauphine-style luminescent hour and minute hands and the red, blue or green (depending on the model) aluminum second hand on the dial.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light is worn with a strap made of textured rubber with color stitching on the edges or fabric, both in black.
