SHADE OF GREEN
Chic and on trend, the color green graced several timepieces at this year’s watch shows including this series by Patek Philippe.
Since its launch in 1997, the Aquanaut has not stopped moving with the times. To mark the model’s 21st anniversary, Patek Philippe presented a new version for summer with a blue dial. Still current, the brand’s sportiest offering returns this year with a matte khaki green checkerboard-patterned dial. This sits in a Jumbo 42.2 mm white gold case. The rounded octagonal shape and the bezel are highlighted with alternating satin and polished finishes. The warm shade of the material accentuates the chic sporty style of the timepiece. The hour and minute hands point to a minute counter composed of Arabic numerals and index markers, all covered with an easy-to-read luminescent coating.
This series is still powered by the 324 S C caliber. This self-winding movement regulates all the time information, the central seconds and the date window at 3 o’clock. This brand’s great classic, which is also used in several other series including the 5227, offers a power reserve of between 35 and 45 hours. Turning the watch over reveals its gold oscillating weight stamped with its unmistakable Calatrava cross. This cutting-edge mechanism has the Patek Philippe seal, which guarantees extreme precision with a tolerance of no more than -3/+2 seconds per day.
The Aquanaut 5168G-010 is worn on a comfortable rubber strap also in green with a folding clasp and pushers.
