GREEN FOR THE BIG BLUE
The hammerhead shark is an endangered species that is being studied in order to protect it better. The watchmakers at Brassus have designed a limited edition to help save them.
Ocean diversity is a key concern for Blancpain. The Manufacture’s Ocean Commitment (BOC) campaigns participate in the study of the oceans. The 50-piece Bathyscaphe Mokarran Limited Edition is dedicated to observing and helping to protect the great hammerhead shark. Each customer who acquires a timepiece in this series joins forces with Blancpain to support the Mokarran Protection Society with 1,000 US dollars. A total of 50,000 dollars will thus be added to the brand’s regular contributions to raise awareness about, respect and protect the ocean world.
This diver’s watch has a 43.60-mm satin-brushed black ceramic case and is water-resistant to 30 bars. The case provides ideal protection for the caliber 1318 that powers the hour and minute hands rotating on the ultra-bright green dial. Like all the watches in the collection, this model has a unidirectional bezel to ensure safe diving. It is machined in the same material as the case and has Liquidmetal® hour markers. The self-winding movement has a balance wheel equipped with a silicon hairspring and three barrels. They provide a 5-day-long power reserve. The solid gold rotor, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback, is engraved with a great hammerhead shark, Sphyrna mokarran, with NAC coating.
The Bathyscaphe Mokarran Limited Edition has a NATO strap so it can be worn comfortably directly on the wrist or when wearing a neoprene wetsuit.
