BIG BANG CAMO YOHJI YAMAMOTO Hublot

ON A QUEST TO STAND OUT

This new limited series is the fruit of a second partnership between the Nyon watchmaker and the unconventional Japanese creative, both driven by a desire for avant-gardism.

Forever so long now, military camouflage patterns are no longer used just for slipping by unnoticed. Yohji Yamamoto took them on to embrace them in his fashion collections boasting the dusky hues he adores. The Japanese creator, an unconventional figure who loves breaking free from stylistic codes, partners with Hublot to imagine a Big Bang Camo which bears his name. The challenge this time round was to ensure that the model which features, amongst other things, an openworked dial, was not misrepresented. To obtain a convincing result, a play on gray, black and khaki colored patches reign supreme above the mechanism. And, all essential time data stands out in this biomorphic composition: the hour and minute hands, a small seconds at 9 o’clock and a totalizer boasting the date at 3 o’clock.

This selfwinding movement (with a 72-hour power reserve) integrates a chronograph hosting a flyback function to measure different sets of time swiftly.

The first flaunts the same motifs as the dial and was assembled using a vulcanization process which ensures colors are long-lasting. The second is fashioned in a textile that is as intensely black as the garments created by the fashion designer.
