CRAFTED FOR FEATS
With this 100-piece limited edition unveiled in the run-up to the 10th Vendée Globe, the manufacture whisks us off on a fabulous modern-day adventure.
Sunday November 10, 2024. Forty yachtsmen and women head off from Les Sables d’Olonne in France to take on the oceans and the Capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn. Since 1989, this non-stop, unassisted, round-the-world yachting event covering some 45,000 kilometers, and organized every four years, has made its name as the greatest single-handed sailing race. Alan Roura, taking part in the competition for the third time, sets sail once again at the helm of his 60-foot Imoca flying high Hublot‘s colors. For this edition, the manufacture, main sponsor of the race, unveiled a Big Bang Unico Sailing Team, ready to weather any conditions it encounters out at sea. To protect its beating heart in the best possible way, its 42-mm diameter, 14.5 mm-high case is crafted in carbon fiber, an ever-so light yet ever-so resistant material.
Like the other models in the collection, this chronograph displays time data in its openworked scenography. The hours and minutes are easy to read no matter the conditions thanks to their Super-LumiNova® coating. The selfwinding HUB1280 movement, assembled using some 354 components measures short cycle time and delivers a comfortable power reserve of 72 hours. The Big Bang Unico Sailing Team is complemented by a Velcro®-closed fabric strap. This wraparound can be changed for an optional rubber one attached by a folding clasp. In short, this watch is the perfect companion on land and at sea.
