A BUILDING, A TIMEPIECE
As the building of its brand new building comes to an end, the Geneva brand crowns five years of titanic work with a limited edition proposed in just 1,000 pieces.
Summer 2015 marked the kick-off of Patek Philippe’s gigantic project to build its new manufacture in the canton of Geneva. After 5 years of work and a budget of some 600 million Swiss francs, the immense building covering over 133,000 m2 spread over 10 floors, including the basement levels, is now ready to host all the watchmaking firm’s crafts. To celebrate this new milestone, Patek Philippe unveils an exclusive watch, the Calatrava Ref. 6007A available in just 1,000 pieces.
This newcomer comprises a 40 mm-diameter, 10.34 mm-thick polished steel case, topped with a rounded bezel. Its back, center staging a sapphire-crystal porthole, invites to admire the gold oscillating weight of the automatic 324S C caliber, which delivers a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours, as well as a large Calatrava Cross – Patek Philippe’s emblem – and the wording “New manufacture 2019”, both printed in white.
The luminous grayish-blue-hued dial takes on several finishes: circular satin-brushed for the Arabic numeral hour ring, snailed for the triangular markers and “carbon”-style graphic texture for the central disc where the baton-style hour and minute hands and the direct-drive fan out. All these displays are fashioned in gray gold coated with white Super-LumiNova®.
The Calatrava Ref. 6007A is complemented by a calfskin strap, matching the dial, decorated with braiding effect similar to the central disc, and is attached with a steel ardillon buckle.
