Following on from a first opus last year, the partnership between the watch brand and the Stuttgart-based firm pursues its route with a chronograph issued in a 1,500-piece limited edition.
Carrera. For lovers of speed, design and engineering powerhouses, just conjuring up this name makes anyone’s heart miss a beat. We can’t fail to think of the really sporty version of the 911 from 1972. Not to mention the watchmaking icon rolled out in 1963. Last year, a first partnership between Porsche and TAG Heuer was met with a thrill. Two legends, finally together! This time round, the duo hits the stage again with a new limited series created around a 44 mm-diameter black DLC steel case boasting waterproofness proven to depths of 100 meters. The Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition stands out from the previous model with its finishes. On its glossy black dial, the chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock and the hour one at 9 adorn a gritty cloak inspired by asphalt. Time data is clearly featured against this monochrome backdrop thanks to the omnipresence of white Super-Luminova® that creates highly-contrasted scenography.
This two-tone composition is set off with dashes of yellow. Colored piping jazzes up the crown, the fixed bezel’s tachymetric scale, one of the totalizers and the overstitching on the textured black calfskin strap. Yellow also highlights the column wheel of the automatic Heuer 02 caliber (80 hours of power reserve) assembled using 168 components. The sapphire-crystal caseback invites to admire the stylized oscillating weight depicting a three-spoke steering wheel.
