Four years after showcasing its first watch boasting a concrete bezel, the watchmaker from Nyon plays its cards once again with this material which is pretty unusual in watchmaking.
New York’s much more than a city, it’s a state of mind bubbling over with freedom, a spirit perceived in its architecture, which is one of the most exciting in the world. You just need to wander around the bustling streets of the Big Apple’s different districts to be charmed by its incredible diversity. Hublot wished to pay tribute to this boundless creativity by imagining a totally-original limited 50-piece series. This series known as Classic Fusion Concrete Jungle New York stands out through the surprising composition of its 45 mm-diameter case and its dial, both crafted in concrete. Here, there’s no gravel, steel or even water to bind the agglomerate, the material comprises 65 to 75% fine cement, 25 to 30% epoxy resin and 5 to 10% fiberglass. The epoxy resin is also consolidated with an anti-UV additive. It ensures the material doesn’t color-fade over time. The components have also been anti-graffiti-treated to prevent other pollutants, such as dust, from permeating into the composite.
At the heart of this sculpted case, the HUB1143 caliber delivers a power reserve of 42 hours. This selfwinding chronograph movement drives the hour and minute hand rotations as well as the date displayed in an aperture at 6 o’clock and the short-cycle time measurement.
