AN EVERYDAY CLASSIC
Three new watches with a blue gray dial, regulated by automatic movements and offering small complications essential for everyday life, complete the collection of classic timepieces of the Geneva-based brand.
While the emphasis was mainly on the Clifton Baumatic pieces (and rightly so!) equipped with a COSC-certified chronometer movement during SIHH 2019, the new pieces by Baume & Mercier for 2019 have however included some very beautiful watches, particularly the Classima collection. Known for its timeless style, this product line welcomed three timepieces praised for their small complications useful in everyday life highlighted as follows: a chronograph with complete calendar (date hand, double window for the month and day, and moon phase), a dual time – ideal with its second time zone for travelers – and a two-hand completed with a small seconds dial and a date (at 6 and 3 o’clock respectively).
All equipped with self-winding mechanical movements but with different bases (Valjoux 7751, ETA 2893-2 and Sellita SW 260), these Classima stand out mainly for the color of their face: a beautiful blue with a touch of gray highlighted with a circular satin finish and, in the center, a barley-grain pattern. The hours and minutes are indicated by two silver-plated leaf-shaped hands which pass over slimline Roman numerals. As for the case, the thickness varies depending on the model, it is made of steel, measures 42 mm in diameter and has a transparent case back.
These new pieces by Baume & Mercier come with straps in matte black alligator with large square scales or steel links fastened with a folding buckle with safety pushers.
Price: from 2,250 CHF (small seconds on leather) to 4,200 CHF (chronograph complete calendar on steel)
