The most robust chronograph of the Le Locle manufacturer is still as efficient as ever, with an even sportier look thanks, among other things, to the use of carbon fiber.
Are you familiar with Extreme E? Behind this name lies a very original car race, as it is the first championship with an environmental focus pitting SUVs powered by electric motors against each other. Each race takes place at a location where the effects of climate change are apparent. This original format appealed to Zenith, subsequently becoming the race’s official timekeeper and a founding partner. The manufacturer’s most robust Defy, Extreme Carbon, at the beginning of the year comes in a new variant of the colors of the Extreme E “X Prix”. The markers and the hour and minute hands are also coated with white Super-Luminova® SLN C1. Together with this colorful aesthetic composition, the data displays an excellent readability on the openworked dial.
All these elements are protected in this collection for the first time by a 45mm diameter case machined in carbon. This serves as a showcase for the El Primero 9004 caliber. This self-winding movement is characterized by its two escapements. One is equipped with a frequency of 360,000 vibrations per hour, dedicated to measuring time to 1/100th of a second, the other (5Hz) to managing time-related information.
The Defy Extreme Carbon comes with three wristbands. All of them can be easily switched without the use of a tool thanks to an ingenious mechanism integrated into the case. Whether in black or red rubber, or in Velcro, each strap reinforces the sporty personality of the timepiece cut out for all types of adventure.
