POLAR SENSATION
Harsh environments devoid of any human presence never cease to entice us. This exclusive series takes its aesthetic inspiration from these stunning landscapes.
At once tranquil and luminous, glacier blue possesses many qualities allowing it to assert itself onto our watches. Its hues evoke those of frozen ice floes or natural mountain panoramas. In a limited edition of 50 pieces, Zenith provides the opportunity to appreciate them at any given moment thanks to the Defy Extreme Glacier model. What makes it special? Its chronograph push-button guards and twelve-sided bezel are machined from semi-translucent blue chalcedony. Each variety of this silica composed of quartz and opal fibers presents its own hues and unique structure. As a result, each piece of sculptural design is entirely unique. The mineral watch is fitted into a 45mm-diameter brushed titanium case that is water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters.
As with all the watches in the collection, the certified chronometer El Primero 9004 caliber with 50-hour power reserve is at work. This self-winding movement is distinctive in that it has two escapements. One, at 5Hz, is devoted to managing the temporal information. The other features a frequency of 360,000 vibrations per hour, intended for measuring times to 1/100th of a second. The hypnotizing revolutions of the second hand operate within a single second. The counters arranged on a sapphire crystal dial with frosted finish indicate the minutes. The manufacturer offers the option of wearing the Defy Extreme Glacier on an easily interchangeable titanium wristband, as well as on two rubber alternatives, black or white, finished with either a folding clasp or Velcro®.
