GEOMETRIC FIGURE
The manufacture rolls out an up-to-the-minute version of one of its flagship models from the 1960s-1970s, imagined around a high-performing caliber and flaunting charming pared-down style.
Out of the shadows, into the light, perfectly weaves the tale of this new watch that complements the Defy Revival collection. Its design draws its inspiration from a reference showcased some 50 years ago. And, like many of the manufacture’s pieces, the quartz crisis meant they were pigeonholed in the archives. Yet, to the utmost delight of watchmaking aficionados, the trend for everything vintage has thrust them back in the limelight. Zenith has taken this opportunity to add up-to-the-minute features yet ensures the watch’s quirky personality continues to dazzle. In a nutshell, although the Defy Revival Shadow center stages a play on geometrics with its 37 mm-diameter octagonal case and its 14-sided bezel, microblasted titanium has been chosen to craft the elements.
In addition to its lightness and ability to withstand corrosion, this material enhances the original look of the timepiece thanks to its gray hues which fuse with the intense black of the dial wonderfully well. On this dial, the hour chapter comprising stylized indexes in the shape of layered dashes is hovered over by a pair of rhodium-plated, facetted hands topped with beige SLN C1 Super-LumiNova®. The time data is driven by the Elite 670 caliber. This selfwinding movement delivers at least 50 hours of power reserve. The Defy Revival Shadow’s case, which is incredibly-waterproof, to depths of 300 meters, is worn on a “ladder” titanium bracelet like the ones exclusively created for the star-logoed brand back in 1969 by Gay Frères.
