CUT OUT FOR FEATS
With two limited series, Ulysse Nardin accompanies sailors on their 40,075 km journey for the next open-ocean race around the globe.
On November 8, 2020, the 9th edition of the Vendée Globe, an around-the-world offshore sailing challenge, without stopovers, without assistance, will kick off from the town of Sables-d’Olonne in France. For the first time ever, Ulysse Nardin is partner and official timekeeper for the event. For this occasion, the watchmaking brand has developed two 300-piece limited edition diver watches. Both conjure up legendary spots of the seascape world. The Diver X Cape Horn is linked to the notorious, daunting passage south of Chile which skippers will need to navigate to cross from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic. Cape Horn’s geographic coordinates as well as the route of the Vendée Globe are stamped on the 44 mm-diameter titanium caseback. The Diver X Nemo Point illustrates a spot which is just as terrifying. Nemo Point, lost in the middle of the Pacific, is named after author Jules Verne’s imagined captain. Its coordinates mark the location farthest from any land surface. They are stamped on the caseback and accompanied by the traced route of the open-ocean challenge.
The hour and minute hands as well as the small seconds and the calendar are driven by the UN-118 caliber. Once fully wound, it delivers 60-hour autonomy to the timepieces.
These models, bona fide diving instruments, are waterproof to 300 m and come equipped with a unidirectional revolving bezel. Diver X Cap Horn and Diver X Point Nemo are set on a comfortable Velcro-attached fabric strap which wraps perfectly around the bare wrist or over a neoprene wetsuit.
Price: CHF8,900 (Nemo Point) – CHF9,900 (Cape Horn)
