Available for sale from July, this new automatic chronograph, whose retro look is accentuated by the cushion shape of its steel case, is available in two versions.
No, we’ll never get tired of them: the reissues have the charm of the old but… in new! They have a deliciously old school style that allows a foray into the heritage of a brand and embody a timeless object while being equipped with a contemporary engine. The DS Chronograph 1968 from Certina is part of this trend, and the company is not a first timer as we remember the success of the DS PH200M. Available in two versions, the design of this novelty is based on the Argonaut model of the 1960s.
Whether in “bare” steel or covered with black PVD, its cushion-shaped case measures 43.5×43.5mm and can withstand immersion to a depth of 200m. It is topped by a bezel on which rests a ring of sapphire crystal. The lower surface of the latter bears the decal of the diving scale. The black lacquered dial features an hour circle and two “baton” hands coated with white Super-LumiNova®, the central chronograph second hand and two crisscrossed counters (small seconds at 9 o’clock and minute totalizer at 3 o’clock). The variant features bright orange varnished indexes.
These displays are driven by the automatic ETA A05.H31 caliber with silicon balance spring that delivers a comfortable 60-hour power reserve. The black PVD model is worn on a matching leather strap with butterfly clasp and the steel one on a NATO strap with black and white stripes fabric made of recycled material.
