A complex, high-performance hand-wound caliber with elegant, sporty lines brings to life this novel interpretation of the world time complication.

With its Convex collection, Greubel Forsey gives its timepieces a new youthful look. The GMT Balancier Convexe reinvents the spirit of the travel watch with a new dynamic aesthetic composition. Henceforth, the Earth is at the center of all attention. Designed like an amphitheater, its dial features a realistic representation of the earth. Its gyrations are synchronized with those of the blue planet throughout the course of a day, enabling it to determine world time. For the very first time, the GMT complication is coupled with a 30° inclined balance, which is one of the brand’s technical signatures.

A white and black circle makes it possible to distinguish day from night. Another larger gray disk, calibrated at 12 o’clock, displays the local time. A third one is devoted to the timer surrounding the entire set. Red triangular points coated with luminescent material make the information easy to read. At 10 o’clock, a blued hand facilitates the reading of the second time zone. All these components are housed in the collection’s iconic 46.5mm diameter case, here machined from titanium. A push-button in the case middle is used to adjust the GMT Balancier Convexe. The inclusion of a sapphire crystal on the case back also enables identifying the rotating disc on which the 24 time zones are engraved in reference to the main cities. In a nod to the workshop’s location, the inscription CHX-DE-FDS, for La Chaux-de-Fonds, is used instead of Paris. When traveling, it’s all about perspective…
