With Hublot, art has no limits
For well over a decade, Hublot has been championing all the arts through meaningful partnerships with contemporary creators. The latest partnership is in perfect harmony with the manufacturing world. Since 2005, as a designer, visual artist, painter, and even video artist, Daniel Arsham has shattered all conventional codes with his creations imbued with timeless symbolism. The American artist reveals his multiple talents in the form of disruptive uchronies. His molds transform contemporary objects into fossil-like petrified figures embellished with drapery reminiscent of antiquity. As an archaeologist of the imagination, he explores ages frozen in time, those of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He questions the various eras, examining our relationship to time, most notably via his series Connecting Time, represented by sculptural hourglasses. His universe shaded in romanticism and pop art has been exhibited in New York, Paris, Tokyo, London, and elsewhere.
Following on from his architectural and fashion collaborations, Daniel Arsham is now expanding his horizons by becoming a Hublot ambassador. In keeping with his talent for creating audacious scenographies, he is brilliantly celebrating the event in Zermatt at an altitude of 2,583 meters. Hence, the artist conceived Light & Time, a sundial of breathtaking dimensions. At its center, erected in the manner of an obelisk, a pristine sculpture, composed of snow, casts its shadow on a large circle of 20 meters in diameter. Beauty and function converge in the same way that material merges in the watch brand’s iconic Big Bang watches. Visible only from the summit, this ephemeral creation ushers in a new chapter of history made to last with future limited-edition watches. More than ever Hublot loves Art. And so do we!
