WATCHMAKING JEWELS
Its intense green pigments enthralled the Ancient Egyptians for whom it symbolizes eternal youth. Since then, malachite has been adorning the most exquisite jewelry and… watchmaking creations!
In 2019, MB&F unveiled its first-ever watch imagined for the elegant wrists of ladies wishing to stand out. This piece as such reiterates the spirit of the Legacy Machine collection by center staging a central 60-second flying tourbillon, crowned with a diamond, reigning under a glass dome. On a small black or white dial, tilted at 50°, two serpentine hands point to the hours and minutes. As it’s set at 7 o’clock, only the delighted wearer of the watch can read the time data. After variations strewn with delicate gems, featuring guilloché-engraved and even black-lacquered subdials, the timepiece hits the scene this time round in a version known as FlyingT Malachite.
The presence of the striated stone with its swirl of green nuances adds an extra touch of visual peps and elegance to the watch. What’s more, this stylistic option dazzles with its 168 diamonds (around 1.7 carats) that fringe the 38.5 mm-diameter white gold case and the clasp of the gray leather strap.
The LM FlyingT Malachite is driven by a selfwinding caliber designed and developed in-house in MB&F’s workshops. This complex, high-performing movement, assembled using some 280 components, boasts a fabulous power reserve of more than four days. The two crowns, symmetrically positioned on the case, enable adjusting the minutes and hours separately. The sapphire-crystal caseback invites to admire the breathtaking sun-shaped gold oscillating weight.
