DIVE IN STYLE!
The winged-hourglass brand’s Heritage collection, acclaimed just as much by watchmaking enthusiasts as by lovers of everything vintage, boasts a new dive watch inspired by its rich heritage and celebrating one of the oldest-ever alloys: bronze.
Since 2007 when Longines reedited one of its dive watches originally created back in 1967, the Legend Diver Watch, which is part of the Heritage collection, has been riding a wave of success thanks to its numerous variations. In 2020, the firm from Saint-Imier dived back into its rich heritage, then surfaced with a brand new treasure: a version of its legendary diver totally fashioned in bronze. This alloy which the experts consider as the oldest in the world is closely linked to the maritime world as it was used for the first navigation instruments and it accompanied Humans on their quest to explore the underwater kingdom back in days of yore. And, as over time, this sturdy metal with its golden glints takes on a delicately greenish-hued patina, it makes every piece unique.
The Legend Diver Watch 42 mm-diameter case is equipped with a screwed titanium caseback to avoid any risk of allergy for the skin. This silvered disc features an engraving portraying the silhouette of a diver just like the pieces in the archives. This metallic case hosts the L888.5 caliber, an automatic movement which drives the time functions and delivers a power reserve of some 64 hours.
The dial, encircled by a graduated internal revolving bezel activated by a crown set at 2 o’clock on the case-middle, is adorned with an exquisite smoked green conjuring up the colors of the depths of the ocean. It center stages vanilla-lemon Arabic numerals and indexes and luminescent squares hovered over by the golden hour, minute and second hands.
