DUAL FASCINATION
Breathing life into imagination… The watchmakers from the Geneva manufacture took on a new challenge by combining no less than 24 complications which feature on both faces of this outstanding watch.
One watch, two faces. A time face and a calendar face… Although this mechanical architecture is not one of Vacheron Constantin’s recent developments, it is given a new lease of life in this novel one-of-a-kind timepiece known as Les Cabinotiers Grande Complication Split-Seconds Chronograph – Tempo.
On the slate-gray dial, four counters offer an ultra-readable display of the hours and minutes, second time zone, 30-minute chronograph totalizer and perpetual calendar (date, day, month and leap year). The two central direct-drives are devoted to short-cycle time measurement and to the split-seconds function. Guilloché and sunray finishes add extra relief to the composition.
On the back, which pursues the same refined atmosphere, the regulator tourbillon is framed by a retrograde moon phase and age display, running equation of time, sunrise and sunset time indication as well as day and night duration. A power reserve gauge-style indicator (65 hours) completes the ensemble.
Life is breathed into these 24 complications by the complex 2756 caliber which embraces some 1,163 components. This hand-wound movement, nestling in a 50 mm-diameter rose gold case, also features a minute repeater which chimes the hours, quarter-hours and minutes on request. Last but not least, this timepiece stamped with the Hallmark of Geneva (Poinçon de Genève) has its own exclusive sound which was recorded and certified by the famous Abbey Road studios in London.
