THE TIME FLYERS
For its collection of watches inspired by its historical link with aviation, the brand symbolized by a winged hourglass is reviving one of its mechanical innovations, developed and patented nearly a century ago.
In keeping with its strong attachment to the sky, as expressed in the development of precise instruments to assist explorers embarking on the adventure of aviation in the 1900s, Longines is reviving one of its mechanical innovations, created and patented nearly a century ago. Today, the brand symbolized by a winged hourglass introduces the flyback function in its sports collection inspired by the first pilots’ watches, in a duo of Longines Spirit Flyback.
Backed by the chronograph, the flyback function allows you to stop, reset and restart a timekeeping operation with a single push, a practical device whose rapid handling is crucial for navigation in general and the calculation of route stages in particular. It is powered here by the new automatic caliber L791.4, COSC-certified, which delivers a significant energy reserve of approximately three days.
This movement is housed in a steel case measuring 42mm in diameter and 17mm thick, with a screw-down crown and caseback that help guarantee water resistance to a depth of 100m. The bezel can be rotated in both directions and features a graduated ring machined in ceramic that matches the color of the black or blue sunray dial. The hours and minutes, completed by a small second at 9 o’clock, are displayed at the center, pointing to the Arabic numerals in gold and luminescent appliques, while the large second hand powers the minute totalizer placed at 3 o’clock. An interchangeable system makes it easy to transform the look of the Longines Spirit Flyback from chocolate calf leather to navy fabric, from sand-colored NATO to a steel link bracelet.
