DEEP PURPLE
After the Green Dial series, the Locle-based manufacturer unveils a new, colorful, and atypical variation of its famous square chronograph. Rare, elegant, and offbeat: the perfect combination!
Before the watch worn by Steve McQueen, the king of cool, during the filming of the movie Le Mans, the Monaco had blue hues that tended to turn purple with the patina of time. As a nod to these early models known under the reference 1113B, TAG Heuer is offering a limited edition of 500 watches entitled Monaco Purple Dial. Its dial features a magnificent purple color with a sunray and smoke finish. On the top, there are two black chronograph counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, completed by the small seconds at 6 o’clock. The hour and minute hands coated with white Super-LumiNova® point to the markers positioned on the emblematic minute track inherent in this legendary timepiece.
Its 39mm-diameter steel case, water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters, is equipped with the high-performance Heuer 02 caliber with column wheel. In addition to measuring time, it tracks a date that is displayed in its window at 6 o’clock. This self-winding movement produces a comfortable power reserve of 80 hours. The presence of a sapphire crystal on the case back reveals its openworked, stylized oscillating weight and some of its gears and wheels in action. For the perfect touch, the Monaco Purple Dial comes with a matching black alligator leather wristband with a purple lining ending in a folding clasp. With its multiple technical and aesthetic qualities, this timepiece bears all the hallmarks of a potential collector’s item.
