AWAKENING THE LEGEND
This series, unveiled during the F1 Grand Prix held on May 29 in the Principality of Monaco, has all the attributes to capture the imagination of lovers of beautiful machines.
As the longstanding partner of the most legendary Formula 1 race, Tag Heuer regularly introduces watches in the Monaco collection celebrating this event. This year, it takes the form of the Monaco Special Edition Grand Prix chronograph, with a look as sporty as it is elegant. A contemporary rendition of the rare and mythical “Dark Lord” from the late 1970s that was so popular with collectors. Its 39mm case, water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters, retains the iconic shape of the original model, yet adopts a very contemporary material, Grade 2 titanium with black diamond light coating (DLC). The dial also carries this hue in two distinct finishes. The grained hour circle with rose gold-plated markers contrasts with the circular brushed center. Within which are positioned the opaline counters, 30 minutes and 12 hours, dedicated to the measurement of time, the small seconds and the date at 6 o’clock.
Ideally set against this monochrome background are the hour and minute hands in rose gold plating and those of the chronograph in bright red. All the functions of this timepiece are powered by the Heuer 02 caliber, delivering 80 hours of power reserve. This self-winding movement, including its openworked oscillating weight, is revealed through the case’s sapphire back. For perfect harmony, the Monaco Special Edition Grand Prix is worn on a comfortable black alligator leather wristband closed with a titanium folding clasp.
