The brand’s oldest collection is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. This 999-piece limited series center stages its caliber in a highly-attractive, unexpected way.
Let’s play with lines. This is what MIDO chooses to do with its new Multifort Mechanical Limited Edition rolled out for the range’s ninetieth. An entertaining reproduction of some of its caliber components come to life on its elegant anthracite-hued dial thanks to the application of blue- and orange-glowing white Super-LumiNova®. In a nutshell, as soon as light wanes, the composition, which is really graphical during the day, turns into a vibrantly-colored, luminous show. It goes without saying that the hours and minutes are optimally-readable in all circumstances.
This inspiring scenography reigns in a large, 44 mm-diameter steel case, decorated with satin-brushed and polished finishes, and waterproof to depths of 100 meters. The caliber, designed on an ETA 6498-1 base, beating at 18,000 vibrations an hour, nestles inside, and is revealed through the sapphire-crystal caseback. This sturdy, manual-wind movement delivers a power reserve of some 46 hours to the hour and minute hands as well as to the small seconds set at 6 o’clock.
A choice of three wraparounds, available to accompany this Multifort Mechanical Limited Edition, highlight this model’s versatile personality. The patinated-finished, brown leather strap, the steel-link bracelet attached by a folding clasp, and the mouse-gray fabric strand adorned with luminescent white stitching are easily interchangeable thanks to the quick release system inviting the wearer to choose to suit their mood.
