In these new models, Vacheron Constantin highlights the importance of visual design for showing off a watch complication. The hardest thing will be to choose which dial you prefer!
The Overseas collection is rooted in its times, skilfully mirroring changes in watchmaking trends. At the 2019 SIHH trade show in Geneva, Vacheron Constantin introduced two models of its Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin watch. One features a refined silver dial, and the other comes in lacquered blue with a satin sunburst finish. In both versions, the day, date, month and leap year are shown in a very readable way in three sub-dials. The calendar displays are rounded off by a moon-phase indicator at 6 o’clock. Pink-gold hour and minute hands make their way around a dial with lume-coated indices. Around the outside is the company’s trade-mark bezel with six segments, recalling the Maltese cross, the Vacheron Constantin logo.
Inside the 41.5mm-wide and 8.1mm-thick rose-gold case, the calibre 1120QP/1 masterfully conducts the time functions. The surprising compass-rose-shaped rotor in the self-winding movement (40 hours of power reserve) can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback.
The model with a pink-gold case and strap comes with two spare, easy to change straps. The first is made of blue alligator leather, the second of rubber in the same colour. These two straps are also included with the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin model with the blue dial.
