“A GREAT JOB” FOREVER
The crown-logoed brand unveiled a new, larger diameter for its watch considered as the most timeless and purest in terms of esthetic style and features.
“Faites surtout du beau travail”, (“Above all, do a great job”), the words of founder Hans Wilsdorf (1881-1960) resound like a mantra, his legacy is concentrated in these five simple words in French which, when put together, epitomize Rolex’s history. Great work… the crown-logoed brand does just this every day, as illustrated once again through the new references enhancing the Oyster Perpetual collection. These newcomers stand out firstly with their novel diameter, a 41 mm which fits any wrist even the slimmest, and which replaces the 39 mm one which exited the catalogue at the end of summer.
The Oyster Perpetual model is without a doubt the most timeless, the simplest and the most elegant of Rolex collections. It only hosts the essential time data, i.e. hours, minutes and seconds, driven by the new 3230 caliber, an automatic movement set at 4 Hz which delivers a great power reserve of 70 hours once fully wound.
The case middle is sculpted directly in the solid block of Oystersteel, a more robust and corrosion-resistant 904L steel alloy, and topped with a curvaceous bezel finished off with a sapphire crystal. The backdrop face decorated with fine fluting and the crown boost waterproofness tested to depths of 100 meters.
Two dial colors are available: a silvery shade with delicate champagne hues diffused by the indexes and baton-style hands fashioned in yellow gold coated with Chromalight, a Rolex-proprietary blue-glowing luminescent material, and intense black highlighted by white gold displays.
