ON TRACK FOR THE DAKAR
Next January 5 to 17, one of the world’s greatest rally raid events will be held in Saudi Arabia. Rebellion sets the pace of the race with this limited series.
The Paris-Dakar Rally was created in 1978 and saw some of the finest hours of its adventures in Africa. Now called the Dakar Rally, the 42nd edition is bringing its participants to the dunes of the Middle East for the first time. As the event’s official timekeeper, Rebellion will also be at the heart of the race with the participation of its President, Alexandre Pesci, behind the wheel of a racecar in the company’s colors. The Predator Chronograph Dakar has dressed up for this legendary race. The 48-mm titanium case, the honeycomb dial and the rubber strap have a dark black DLC coating, while some components such as the hands and the 12 -hour and 30-minute totalizers at 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock, dedicated to measuring short times, have a warm color reminiscent of the desert. A plate on the body is engraved with the race’s logo, while the sapphire crystal case back shows the layout of the different stages.
All the time data are powered by a self-winding movement with a 48-hour power reserve. It drives the date at half past 4 and sectorial seconds at 9 o’clock, indicated by a double hand, a small one for the 0 to 30-second scale and a larger one graduated from 30 to 60 seconds.
The 20 timepieces in the Predator Chronograph Dakar limited edition are worn with a black rubber strap ending in a fold-over clasp. An alternative in nubuck comes with the set.
