STREET ART INSPIRATION
For the 87th edition of the legendary endurance race, Rebellion collaborated with Rocketbyz and took its place on the starting grid with two Art Cars and an Art Watch.
While Rebellion Racing’s LMP1 race cars shone during the 2019 edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans by finishing in 4th and 5th place respectively in the overall ranking, they did not go unnoticed even before the start with their flashy livery decorated with color by Tomyboy from the Rocketbyz studio. The German artist, who started out as an R&B music producer, also helped create a 20-piece limited edition of the Re-Volt model of the Rebellion watchmaking brand. This artistic signature can be seen on the barrel-shaped titanium case (38.5 x 40.35 x 13.5 mm) and the crown in the form of splashes of color borrowed from the Street Art spirit of BMX grilles. In a structured architecture, the hour and minute hands stand out clearly with one in green and the other in yellow.
The openwork dial, as with the sapphire case back, offers a view of some of the 165 components of the manual-winding movement regulated to vibrate at a frequency of 28,800 oscillations per hour. Once wound, this develops enough energy to keep the watch going for 48 hours. Its visible cogs add to the automotive style of the timepiece.
The Re-Volt Rocketbyz comes with two straps completed with a fluorescent finish also produced by Rocketbyz, one in white vulcanized rubber, the other in black leather. Both are secured with a folding buckle.
