RÉSILIENCE GOLD Speake Marin

TIMELESS WRAPPED IN GOLD

As a modern reinterpretation of classic watchmaking purity, steeped in references to London’s aesthetic codes, the Geneva-based brand’s most timeless timepiece is adorned in precious finery.

Born in 2003, the Piccadilly case passed through the expert hands of renowned designer Eric Giroud, who made it a slimmer, better-proportioned and very comfortable companion in 2017. Eight years later, on the occasion of Watches and Wonders, Speake Marin brings it back into the limelight with its Résilience Gold watch, a timepiece with a classic personality, steeped in references to the London aesthetic codes that the Geneva-based brand has reinterpreted since its beginnings, and with a modern mechanical heart.

As its name suggests, this new reference features a gold case. Red, it contrasts with the immaculate Japanese Grand Feu enamel dial. On this dazzling white surface, the round of long Roman numerals is swept by the duo of pear-shaped blued steel hands. The ultramarine hue extends to the minute track that runs along the flange and adorns the screw at 6 o’clock like a suspended point in time. In keeping with Speake Marin tradition, the small seconds counter, delineated by a railway scale, returns to its place at 1:30.

Housed in a case 38mm in diameter and 10.5mm thick – perfect dimensions for most wrists – the self-winding SMA 03 caliber designed by Le Cercle des Horlogers drives the essential time. This slender movement, which vibrates at the standard 4hz frequency, delivers a 52-hour power reserve. The Résilience Gold is worn on a light taupe ostrich leather strap fastened with a red gold pin buckle.
