THE TIGER’S ROARING
On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, the Manufacture based in the heart of the Vallée de Joux deploys its artistic talent to bring to life a very exclusive timepiece featuring the engraved silhouette of a roaring tiger on its case back.
For the major part of the Asian world, February 1st marked the beginning of a new year under the sign of the Water Tiger. The feline, admired both for its fiery strength and its creative sensitivity in Chinese astrology, inspired Jaeger-LeCoultre to honor it on the back of its iconic model. Only available on order and customizable according to the desires of its future owner, the Reverso Tribute Enamel “Tiger” watch embodies, once again, the extraordinary talent of the craftsmen housed in the Métiers Rares® workshop within the Manufacture of the Vallée de Joux.
Two colors dominate this piece – the deep black of the Grand Feu enamel and the warm reddish hue of the rose gold – and yet offer two radically different interpretations. Indeed, the front side features a dark dial, framed by a minute railway and faceted applied hour markers, over which a pair of golden dauphine hands fly. And the back of th case, which measures 45.5×27.4mm for 9.73mm thick, reveals the engraved silhouette of a leaping tiger, mouth open and claws out. Sculpted according to the technique of “modeled engraving” in order to play with both volumes and light, the animal’s body couples polished surfaces for its fur and brushed surfaces for the stripes that decorate it.
The hours and minutes are driven by the mechanical hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre 822A/2 caliber that delivers 42 hours of power reserve, and the watch is available with a black alligator leather strap and a rose gold folding clasp.
