MAKING GOOD USE OF GREY MATTER
As in all its new creations, Richard Mille combines innovation and luxury. Here, grey Cermet is used for the first time, transforming the esthetics of sports watches.
Richard Mille used brown Cermet for the first time in the composition of the case on the RM 52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams. This composite metallic matrix provides amazing features that make it perfect for use in fine watchmaking. It combines a lightness close to that of titanium and a hardness close to that of diamond. For the new RM 11-05 Automatic Flyback Chronograph GMT, zirconium is added to give it a grey hue. The presence of this material in the bezel contributes the timepiece’s esthetics. The color obtained highlights the skeletonized architecture bearing the time data. Touches of blue and orange on the month and oversized date apertures, on the small seconds and on the chronograph’s totalizers spice up the composition and increase readability. These same colors can be found on the crown and the pushers.
Combined with the carbon TPT® caseband and the grade 5 titanium caseback, the grey Cermet reduces the watch’s weight and at the same time provides ideal protection for the caliber RMAC3. This self-winding movement orchestrates all the time data. It ensures short time measurement, countdown launches and the display of a second time zone. The presence of a variable-geometry rotor and a high-performance double-barrel structure produces the energy needed for 50 hours of optimum operation.
This 140-piece limited edition is worn on a blue rubber strap that brings out its sporty character.
