In 1997, the famous apple brand unveiled a memorable advertising campaign with an incredibly effective slogan, Think Different. Far from being outdated, this instruction seems to have become a mantra for many companies wishing to offer products that veer off the beaten track. For nearly 25 years, Richard Mille has achieved this perfectly by creating watches that cleverly combine fine watchmaking calibers with latest-generation materials thanks, in part, to a global vision and design. The new RM 17-02 Quartz TPT® illustrates this ability to think outside of the box.
The lack of dial gives the hours and minutes display a fascinating mechanical decor in which the tourbillon, the variable-inertia balance wheel, the fast-rotating barrel and the other inner workings of the hand-wound movement do not play second fiddle. All the elements, their colors, the grade 5 titanium bridges, the choice of font for the numbers, play a role in the disruptive personality of this piece. The immaculate shade of the case crafted in Quartz TPT® accentuates its sporty look. The size and relief of the dynamometric crown make it easy to adjust. The caliber RM17-02 (approximately 70-hour power reserve) with its exemplary hand-crafted finishings features the emblematic energy and function indicators, positioned here at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock respectively. Like the Richard Mille references, the RM 17-02 Quartz TPT® is part of the brand’s drive to propose ultra high-performing models.
