GOING FOR GREEN
For springtime, elegance takes on a go-everywhere mode! The watchmaker from Saint-Imier unveils novel variations in its latest collection adorned with the trendiest color of the times.
Oversized crown, font for the hour chapter and sword-shaped hands inspired by yesteryear timepieces… And, even if a host of details on the references which make up the Spirit collection conjure up the design of historic pilot watches, Longines actually targets modern-day trailblazers and entrepreneurs with its versions boasting 40 and 42 mm-diameter steel cases, waterproof to depths of 100 m. The first models to hit the stage last year feature blue, black or silvered dials, depending on the variation. This year, it’s a hue that’s all the rage which reigns supreme. In short, the Saint-Imier watchmaker proposes microbead-blasted khaki-green models, which perfectly match the beige shade of the Super-LumiNova® coating covering the numerals and hands. Incidentally, the ensemble is protected by a domed sapphire crystal which enhances its vintage military style even more.
Time data is all driven by the L888.4 caliber whose chronometry is certified by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute). This cutting-edge movement integrates a silicon balance-spring, immune to the negative effects of magnetic fields. What’s more, it delivers a power reserve of 72 hours.
To ensure perfect harmony with the Spirit colors, Longines combines these pieces with a beige leather strap, equipped with an interchangeability system and attached by a folding clasp. As such, the strap can be easily changed for a steel bracelet.
