With their up-to-the-minute-styled cases, cut out to resist weather uncertainties, and their state-of-the-art engineering, this new watches have all it takes to make their marks as must-haves.
And, rightfully so, as grade 5 titanium takes pride of place in watch collections as a real alternative to steel. This metal actually boasts properties that are perfect for watchmaking: sturdy, light and biocompatible. It’s also valued for enhancing watch esthetics with its contemporary gray hues. With this in mind, when Longines rolled out its latest sporty-chic range in 2020, it showcased novel variations imagined around cases crafted in this material. The firm’s Spirit Titanium models are available in two versions, a 40 mm-diameter one and a 42 mm one, featuring satin-brushed and polished finishes. Their anthracite-colored dials are set off by hands and an hour chapter displaying Arabic numerals. All these gilded elements topped with “Blue Line”-type Super-LumiNova® ensure optimal reading even in the dark. In this two-tone scenescape, the central direct-drive stands out with its red tip, adding a vitamin boost to the composition.
Time data is driven by the L888.4 caliber whose ever-so accurate chronometry is certified by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute). This selfwinding movement delivers a power reserve of some 72 hours.
The Spirit Titanium references are worn on a synthetic strap matching the dial or on a link bracelet fashioned in the same material as the case, attached by a folding clasp. Thanks to a special system, the strap can be changed ever-so easily without the need for a tool.
