NUMBERS AND LETTERS
Appearing shortly before the middle of the 20th century to optimize readability, the dial known as California continues to seduce the eye with its distinctive design. The proof is in the form of these colorful timepieces!
With the Tribute 1 model from the System 78 collection, Armin Strom introduces a modern aesthetic alternative to the conventional dress watch. On its dial, an off-center disc displays the hours and minutes in a more minimalist manner. This forms an eye-catching diagonal with the barrels located at 4:30. The engraved inscription “100 Hours of power reserve” emphasizes the performance of the caliber integrated into the slim steel case measuring 38mm in diameter and 9mm thick. The same layout is used for the Tribute 1 California limited editions, of which only five were produced. The main difference lies in the composition of the hour circle punctuated by a pair of openworked hands. As the name of the watch would suggest, it has a California-style display combining Arabic and Roman numerals. Five different colors are available: light blue, smoky blue, green, burgundy, and gradient black. They all add dynamism to the dial enhanced with a delicate and sublime guilloche pattern handcrafted by the Finnish watchmaker Kari Voutilainen.
At the heart of the case, the AMW21 caliber continues to beat at a rate of 25,200 vibrations per hour. This hand-wound movement consisting of 135 components is distinguished by its power reserve of more than four days. It is recharged with power by turning the crown located at 2 o’clock. Each Tribute 1 California by Armin Strom is fastened to a comfortable black alligator leather wristband featuring dial-matching stitching and a folding clasp. Style is also all about the details.
